Music with Integrity

Biography

Andra Heesch is one of the leading chamber musicians in Northern Germany. With a fine sense for musical dramaturgy, stylistic authenticity, and human connection, she creates concert formats that make chamber music vivid and directly tangible.
As a violist and artistic director of several ensembles, she shapes the musical life of the region:
  • With the Stella Quartett, the resident ensemble of the Candlelight Concerts in Kiel, she brings classical and genre-crossing programs to unique venues across Northern Germany.
  • The Nichiteanu Trio, a classical string trio, was founded by her in honor of her father, Marius Nichiteanu — former principal violist of the NDR Symphony Orchestra and professor in Hamburg. The trio dedicates itself to the rich string trio repertoire, from rarely performed masterpieces to great classics.
  • With the berlin.piano.quintet, she is a permanent member interpreting the major piano quintet repertoire — expressively, collaboratively, and driven by a shared artistic vision.
  • With the Vitti Ensemble, Andra Heesch is committed to programs that bring contemporary music into dialogue with classical repertoire, focusing on collaborations with composers and the development of innovative concert formats.
In 2025, she assumed the artistic direction of the project 'Klang der Freiheit' at the Kulturladen St. Georg in Hamburg. This concert series connects music with societal topics such as democracy, displacement, and cultural identity — creating spaces for dialogue and artistic reflection.
Andra Heesch stands for an open-minded, undogmatic approach to music.
Her concerts — whether in intimate settings, major events, renowned festivals, established chamber music series, or on unique stages like the MS Bleichen — are characterized by closeness to the audience, dramaturgical sensitivity, and artistic excellence.
Her experience as an orchestral musician and her training at the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre naturally flow into her artistic work — yet at the heart of it all is the direct dialogue: between music, fellow musicians, and the audience.
Andra Heesch lives with her family in Aumühle near Hamburg.

Vitti Ensemble

Together with violinist Markéta Janoušková.

Musically, the ensemble draws from a wide repertoire for violin and viola. In addition to the great classical composers, selected pieces by modern composers form a second pillar of the repertoire, which are often composed directly for the ensemble. Both have already established themselves as freelance artists in the German and international cultural scene.
